Lawrence Wray has had cancer seventeen times. It's been in his spleen, liver, heart, colon, lymphatic system, kidney, and bladder. He's had:Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma Stage 4, four times, which was treated with RCHOP, ESHAP, Stem-Cell Transplant, and IVE palliative care.Kidney cancer once, with one removed.Bladder cancer twelve times. He knows the journey through cancer treatment. In 2002 the doctors told him he had six months to live.He beat it.In 2005 they told him he had three months to live.He beat it.On a Wednesday in 2006, they said he wouldn’t see the weekend. He did.On 7th July 2017, they said he had six months to a year to live. He’s still here.Lawrence says he pays no attention to ‘guesstimates’ based on what happened to other patients, as no two are identical. He started writing 'Cancerology' on 8th May 2017, which was a day he was again diagnosed with bladder cancer. His brother had also just been diagnosed and Lawrence promised to write notes to help him understand the fight he would be facing.'Cancerology' is the result. It looks at ways of dealing with everything that appears in the cancer journey, including:Initial diagnosisFeelingsPhysical problemsHow the diagnosis impacts the mental state of the patient and familyTreatmentThe journey through treatment'Cancerology' is more than just a book about cancer. You also get access to exclusive material to help you through your journey.Free printable PDF filesFree MP3 filesFree articlesFree videosFree update serviceCancer is not a necessarily death sentence.Lawrence says, “Irrespective of your diagnosis, you are reading a book that was written by a guy who has been diagnosed with seventeen various cancers. If nothing else, this should prove that it can be beaten, and now you’ve met someone who has done it, so if I can…”Warts and all“You can set out to write a nice book, or you can write an honest book where you share your experiences and opinions without the restrictions of worrying about what the reader might ultimately think, and that’s what I’ve done. It’s no use telling anyone about side effects and then not explaining how they affected you when you had them, so in a way the book could be embarrassing to me, but it’s not, it’s the truth, and if you’re embarking on the journey through cancer or know someone who is, it will definitely help.”In researching this book, he went beyond his own story and looked at conventional, complementary, and alternative treatments. He contacted consultants, universities, and recognised cancer charities worldwide for their input into what works and what doesn’t.In the section: ‘I’m not convinced’, he also looks at some of the internet sites that promise the ‘magic cure’ and gives his reasons why he isn't convinced by their claims.Only someone who has been through treatment can tell you what it's really like.Learn from his mistakes.
