Kurnaz is a Turkish citizen and legal resident of Germany, where he was born in 1982. Aged 19 when he was arrested in Pakistan, his innocence was officially acknowledged in 2002, but he was not released by the US until 2006. His story of five years in Guantanamo is both sobering and poignant.
